Why do we like them fall?
We see some people in the highest regard. We are in awe of them. We put a halo on them to be always right. We consume everything they say with reverence. Is there a “feeling” between all of this, an explicable need for them to err.
In a recent fiasco that tumbled even to the parliament of India, an errand comment by one of the influencers , Ranveer Allahbadia, was made in an all the more atrocious show. What he did was to be cool in a show which proclaimed itself as “It’s a pointless reality, but it has a very interesting point system”. Ranveer, who handles @BeerBiceps, is a podcaster/influencer who has been in vogue in the content space in India. With the 142 crore we are, he has amassed 4.4 million followers on Instagram and 10.4 million subscribers on YT with his content. Ofcourse, there are takers; not a fan myself, and I have always was sceptical about his content. Maybe because of that above feeling, “How can someone be all these goodies two shoes all the time?”. Is he even for “real”. His pet peeve always to his guests was, since I like deep things, I would like to ask more “deeper” questions, and once more, he would ask something self-evident. Ofcourse, it might be appealing to many, and so the following. In that show, at least, which brought out the real him or the no-masks him, actually made him more real.
Closer homes, we all have people with whom we interact with the same characteristics; they have an image to keep, but when it’s creaking and crumbs inside, But that is for only them to deal with, for others they are the that ideal person on which a halo can be installed. Is it worth this pretence? In Ranveer’s case, this act brought eminent people on his show, and I would say it works. I assume this would be what for a normal person; also, this show they put up might be helpful. They would not want to show their vulnerabilities so that other more substantial or like-minded people flock to them, and thus, it helps in mutual growth. Is that the real progress?
For some of us, when such people prance around in their goody shoes, we wait to know their next slip! We always like good gossip, don’t we? I DO… I ain’t any goody goody!
