When scrolling, have you noticed most belong to the below categories

Self-help tips
Tips and tricks to achieve/fix/ progress in specific fields
Mindless jokes to make us laugh
Memes on popular culture

Product introductions by followed influencers or sponsored content
Self-shots of people or an influencer frolicking in a new garment or in a new space, which is a must-go with not much money, as he suggested.
A post by a known person on where he ate or whom he met or some achievement like Xkms he ran that morning or Ykgs she picked up or a selfie wish to her dear one, wherein you are the focus of the photo rather than the celebrated person.

What if the posts are like the below ones instead

You are asked to listen without scrolling away about how a thing went wrong.

This is about a life situation that can have some solutions in your hand, but before that, the person posting would like to vent. After sufficient venting, he moves to the problem-solving stage, and then he may be ready to hear options of solutions you might have.

It could be a request for help or donation to a cause you are associated with or for some personal circumstance.

This is a selfie, albeit here you are without makeup and from an angle that is not the perceived best of yours. This is in a very raw state without filters, maybe even with dark circles or haggard hair, a glum face, or even tears.

Now, the question arises: why would you put such things in the open? We are told not to show our weaker side to anyone. What if someone sees our vulnerability and might take advantage of it? Most of us think that people just can’t see the sadness of others. Their plate is already full, and they come to these platforms to lighten up. So, there is no place for such posts.

Are we relaxing by getting updated by the following product to reduce fat in specific parts of your body, a tip to reduce the color of your lower lips in specific or by knowing that a random influencer went to the tip of the earth? It creates a sense of urgency, a need that always, most times, isn’t meant for you or, in the present circumstances, unachievable. These platforms do not encourage compassion but competition. They urge you to feel insufficient and unsatiated and to search for better products to improve each aspect of life. That fuels selling constantly and searching for something always. This is like our ultimate search for the purpose of life. Never satisfied, never reached, and hence never know what we are scrolling for. Instead, it could have been a space focused on health, support, and genuine human connections. Now, new platforms are popping up every day; that is the one that might take us to that purpose, and the ultimate search is on. Scrolling away!
