What do you do?
Is that the first question you ask after the first introductions of name and such ofcourse. Atleast that’s what comes naturally to me, which I am trying to resist now a days.
Why do we ask that question? To bucket the person by the profession which he is associated with. Isn’t it? Or to assess the social status of that person.
Now, realisation strikes hard that I might not be understanding or experiencing the person as a whole if I just ask about a facet of that person.
So what could be other questions?
A bit clueless here…. Could it be ?
What are your interests …. How are you doing…. In a listening mode … can it be… what do you feel about a subject ( the context in which you met ).
Would come back in a quarter to this after a bit of experiment…would be great to get another perspective
