Talent or Heart — what to take care at work?
I am not sure if it is just another PR stunt by Elon to emphasize the importance of his employees’ hearts, whom we all know think only of his mission.
It is always a task for employers to take care of the “heart” of employees rather than their skills.
Most organizations have structured programs to manage skills, and those skills are used in everyday workplace dealings. So it is easier to connect with employees about that.
When it comes to softer aspects of the employee, like mental health, family health, and extracurricular activities, it becomes a bit grey. It is not easy for them to open up on these on the work front and how to open up. The avenues to be open about such skills of yours in a corporate setup are minimal. In a corporate environment, you could get judged for being involved in other activities. I have heard that corporate employees do not post certain activities on social media, so managers don’t know about them.
This notion could stem from the closed mindset that if they are involved in something else, they aren’t productive on the work front. A flip to this thinking could be that they are engaged in other activities that could act as fuel for improved work performance. We are not working with AI robots yet but with people with emotions and passions.
