Apps’ economy or popularity is now a a national debate. Tech honchos are now kind of policy makers allying with the government. There has been an interesting rise in the influence of technology.

Debate on TikTok had always been on, majorly because this popular app penetrated anywhere and everywhere seamlessly. Now, so did Instagram, FB, and X, but of course, the ownership of this app is a concern for lawmakers and their tech allies. They are worried that their data collection could be a national security concern. Just as any other app does and uses them, so they know what can be done with the data, and so the concern, I guess. It should be so, too.

I am amused that there has been no move to secure data in all Apps instead of this ban. Why are we all OK with Meta or Google taking our data but not ByteDance? Is it just that the owner’s Geographic location is a concern?

Isn’t it like I can have the pie, but you can’t? I am in the west. You be satisfied with your Dimsums.

India imposed a similar ban, a bold and sudden one at that, in June 2020; note that we did it five years ago! Of course, in addition to the data security issue, which we seem to not be concerned about US Apps, we had border security concerns as well. The Indian government took a stand to ban around 50+ Chinese apps with TikTok, stating the same…
