Neolocal view of New York — A photo essay
This city was known as the financial capital of the world, the never sleeping city and city where people doesnot have time for none. Very miopic view, I realise when I lived there for some weeks, much encouraged by my young son, who is studying there. I wanted to experiance his “present” city, he procliams he is a bangalore macha by all means.
Ofcourse no hoots given, its the fin capital of the world, no contention to that. With that comes hoardes of white colored workers, who bustles in the street to and from their work place. I was jostled once by one such individual when I was a bit slow, looking into my phone trying to find ways in the city. Yes may be because of the the tall buildings there, the sateliite connection for maps sucks, and I have gotten lost many number of times on the street. But I discovered a different corners of the city when I got lost also, so no qualms. That tryst with miffed pedestrian aside, never were people rude nor where they inhuman in any of the transactions, in contrary to what the belief we all have of newyorkers. In most cases, always they were ready to help, going extra mile to show the grided subway systems, which can be very evry confusing or going literally a extra mile to drop me in a taxi, when I put in 34 instead of my destination 38 street, was my experiance with them. Never Sleeping City, yes its bustling always, from where I stayed I could hear morning rush of office goers, so would hear the chatter of afternoon loitering tourists, as the place was very near to grand central, in the night it was…
