Jealousy is interesting

Yes, it’s green. Very sustainable. It can occur anytime with and without logic.

I am talking about people who have jealous tendencies. Most, I understand, are unlike me; they don’t experience this remarkable turmoil of emotions. It’s good sometimes — give cues to what your desires are!

Does it make me green, as Shakespeare famously wrote? There is a change of colour on the face and expression for sure, and then in the gut, there is a gush of rush, which they say is bile.

Why do I see it as interesting? Let’s take my peculiar case; when I experience this, I remove myself from that situation. Is it escapism? It could be that I am escaping from the fear of comparison with another person, the fear of loss of opportunity, the lack of specific characteristics, suspicion or distrust, anger or resentment. Whoa! I seem to have missed some of it all…This undermines me, so it is better to do your stuff or not as well, but not be in that situation and mire in the above. It’s better not to interact with a person or situation that invokes these at that moment. Feel it’s better than blurting out words that do not help the situation.

I have seen some people deal with it very graciously. They admit they are “envious.” It does give the other party a sense of validation of that quality or skill, and the envious person feels more liberated, I guess, by being that open. It is a saner way than that gush of bile and face antics. Something to learn from here.

Others deal with it in a primarily well-known way to only a tiny minority like me who experience this emotion. Add a statement that derogates the person or situation. Classically, you are talking about a performance. The other person may be feeling this green thing rushing up, and it comes out as “Hope you do well, please don’t fall during the performance.” Woah. That is an apt wish.

I have all the more reasons to be antisocial.
