Easy Laughs

Am I that humorous that anything that I mumble makes people smile or chuckle…. but not laugh? I am not yet there! Or am I there even?

You grow up the ladder at work you tend to get “easy laughs” and yes Ma’med. It is very common for the people who work with you to feed your ego, which is already inflated with the power you perceive you have. They are manipulating your inflated ego, to their advantage. Keep the boss happy, and smiling, and never challenged and you are perceived as safe.

Here if you see there are a lot of perceptions. The leader perceives himself/herself to be powerful and ever-evading. The team member feels safe and in good books, so less conflicted. All these would come crashing down at one point when the work and you get affected by these. These are fewer challenges and way fewer conflicts so the thought given to the work product at hand is minimal. This affects the product which is in making and more importantly the people involved here have stunted growth.

Like a frog in the well, I crock to you, you yes-crocked to me and we are in a bubble where we perceived it as all well and we just satiated ourselves with the small fly which just flew by. That was also only pointed out by the senior, as the member just was looking at him to crock.
