Cringey but likey

Yes, there are such social media influeners that I can admit that I follow. Now, if any logical person can ask, then why follow? Now you start applying logic in all situations, then where the fun? Isn’t it norm to create situations and then fret over it. So this is like the same, you follow them, see what they post and say ewwwwww!

That’s the fun! If I ain’t following who would feed my bitchy side, how is it normal to just be the person liking those motivational posts and platitudes or those romantic ones. These does feed a pocket of the brain, which also needs fodder.

The queen of this category, in my follow list, is Urofi. A small town girl who seems to have been in a very restrictive environment and has abuse ladden past now shows her liberation in her own way. I’m glad that she is out of those situations and is in a place where she can express. These expressions of hers are cringefest for me, although some of her “creations” as she names them are fashion statements. Yes have to admit there are some which does have a lot of creativity in them. What would you call someone wearing chair.. so that’s it.

Whatever said and done she has a Netflix show to her credit and huge followership and brand endorsements. She is achieving what she is set to do. My ewwww is heard only by my screen.

Now, I diligently follow Krishna sisters, their father and mother. The whole family of 6 is into content creation. For a average net browser from kerala as their audience is malayalis as most of their content is in our language, is unique, although most of their content is copy of concepts from international markets. One of them does a concept and all other siblings copy the same format and we still watch them all. Why could this be? As I said for the sake of bitch Quotient or just to switch the brain off as well. They don’t make you think, that’s the purpose of most of the content, just flit and watch. Of the group, should say, the mothers who has almost 334k followers, posts her day to day life and its mostly interesting to hear her perspective. The youngest of the lot and cutest daughter, keeps imitating K-pop stars and her dance moves are promising, she is vying to be in movies is what we know from one of the posts. Now another sibling — Diya also posts her day to day doings and claims she still have a personal life which she doesnt share, I doubt that. When she started or when she got added to my follow list, she was posting after a public breakup and laments did make sense. That kept me consuming her content and in the recent times she started posting on her dating and quite recently marriage, where it seems like she is revenge posting to show her exes. But did I unfollow her. No but don’t look into all her contents and still look at others and eeeeewwwww.

Their followership is ever increasing, and so are their brand endorsements. For average malayali girls, they are role models, not a small feat in ever critical and most literate crowd.

I follow 7000 odd profiles, yes there are others may be can write on them in the following blogs .. can’t handle this much toxicity at one go. Ewwww
