Yes Being successful online, what does it comprise of ?

There are 20 + Social media platforms with active users prevalent now, as Google says. I don’t see Bluesky in this list, which Google pushed out when asked the simple question of How many social media channels are in the global scenario? While Claude.ai didn’t commit to saying a number, it is very diplomatic. Why can’t she commit to a number? Strange, it was a straightforward question. Now, with Chatgpt, the more assured one that gave me an answer more logically, I assumed it to be him. He says it’s over 100+, and I need to be more definitive about what kind, microblogging, photo sharing, messaging, live streaming, and much more. As a business or individual poster, we might need 20+ avatars on all of it. Isn’t that daunting? Although we are adept at putting on different masks daily, isn’t 20 + or, if to go by, chatbot a,, 100+ a considerable number??

From the POV of an SM worker, I need to be on all to understand and get the vibe of all, although it can make you Jill of all and confused as no one business on all. This is because the content you might create for your business when made on Instagram may not fit in LinkedIn, and thus, you are figuring out ways to fit in all with one but customize smartly. This is only if the business you promote has customers on all these channels. What if the business is B2B in an Indian scenario, and your customers aren’t in a specific channel? As expected, business people frolicked on LinkedIn, as we all know. But people in this kind of business don’t care to be on it, and they may use Instagram, WhatsApp, or Telegram for entertainment. Then, you make content for them to fit in all of these and vie for their attention while doing business or having fun on these channels, making them think about business while having fun. As for them, they do business with pen and paper and with a Ramu to run around for them with cheques, invoices, or messages. So catch them when they have fun or irritate them to block you when you intrude into their social media feed as a business when they were supposed to have fun.

Tricky as we can assume this proposition to be. This is mainly for B2B in the Indian scenario. I am sure it is different in a world where they are segmented in using social channels for specific purposes; for instance, businesses go to LinkedIn only for work purposes and find it important to have a profile for their business on it and be active on their profile to build, the network for business. To succeed in the Indian scenario for B2B SM workers, you need to be sneaky and more tactful to entertain while veering towards making them think of business while having fun or while room scrolling.
Now, from the viewpoint of an ardent SM user who likes to sprawl on them all when a minute is given or even found. Lurk around all the corners of it with the intent to entertain yourself, be aware of things happening around you, learn a trend or two, learn some tricks of trade( so can be used from the other POV), gather some validation (why else do we post, if you are posting as a person when not as a business, I keep wondering?), or make someone aware of the whereabouts (for what I wonder — to make them jealous, to make them aware of our lifestyles. We all know not all gaze at our life is with the same intend, still we post, why do we do that? ). To be successful as a user, we need to choose the platform based on our skills, whether we are there to entertain, educate, or convert some to customers. So here we moved away from an individual stalking/judging posting person to a person there on it for a purpose. The purpose could be to influence the market and make money from it. To succeed at it, you also need to know your talents. Can you be comfortable being in front of the camera and posting your angles? Then you choose to be on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and make money off it too. But if you are a wordsmith, your world can be in Medium, Substack, Reddit, Twitter, Bluesky, or Threads, and your angles aren’t as relevant as your words are.

Now you have both. You are good to look at, can speak or write, and voila, you are the darling of all the channels. You can be successful if you are consistent and relevant with content. All of these take effort and sacrifices, as they say.

As far as we enjoy doing whatever on these channels, we can continue with it, and you are assured that your skills are standing out, not the appearance. It can, too, be used as a means to promote. Many people make money with it, but the question remains: Is it long-term? We won’t be able to vouch for it as we can for a skill.

They all have different propositions, and being an observer or consumer on a channel has a price to pay, just as being a creator, individual, or business. Being successful as any of these avatars and the sub-avatars is based on your passion and consistency.
