Air, water, earth, and me

the three basic elements of our being.

I seem to have more earth to myself. There is a reason for this psycho-self-analysis. Realized in the recent surf lessons, or should I call them soak lessons? Went for it with my son and partner and in the second lesson they were so comfortable with the board and the dip in the sea. For each attempt to surf, I held on to the board very dearly lying down on it with face down, looking longingly at the shore and hoping no reverse wave come and push me back. The Sri Lankan coach tried his best to emphatize with me, he said in his broken English “ I feel you”. Thanks to him, I felt the core of myself too, getting drenched and gasping for breath.

Then the attempt was to surf, at least sit on the board, that was the progression that I defined for myself. I aint sure that is the correct progression. But it was a huge progression, although the waves were naughty and pushed me off it and I started my soaking lessons. Then the coach tells me never to sit on the board. A huge lesson was learned in one go. The waves don't like sitting people I guess.

By the third lesson tried to stand up with a classic balancing pose on the board, aha… the waves are very very interfering I say... I was thrown off the board. By now sea was a close acquaintance or are we ready to call it close, not sure, she is one with whom I soak in and say greetings to. It was a huge progress from taking at least minutes to get into a water body albeit it is still and knows it's just 2 feet deep.

I have a long way to be one with water.

Now the earth, she likes me and I love her. The trees on her are the best. In all my treks and nature walks I feel one with her. It's her for sure, and she is so so giving and hold me up every time I scale heights even on her. One such was a long walk on a very elevated trek at Sandakphu, where there was no guide with each person but we all found our way with some florescent ribbons which were sometimes blown away by hail or covered with them. So anytime any trek it's very me. Need to complete the Everest base camp soon in a more relaxed manner, maybe halting in all the villages and enjoying them too. Not as a group activity, where there is always a need to be with a schedule. Wrote on my first attempt at it in a blog, which is attached here.

Now the Air that is fully unknown, can't think of sky diving or bungee jumping yet. The most I can get a feel of being in the Air is on the aerial silk, So more to explore with it.
